Residents of sant Llorenç des Cardassar to benefit from reduced admission to the Mallorca Railway Museum

Registered residents will be able to visit the museum for a symbolic fee of €1

Residents of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar will be able to visit the Mallorca Railway Museum for a symbolic fee of €1, following an agreement between the local council and Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM), the project’s main promoter.

SFM has issued a favourable report in response to the request submitted by the council, which sought to introduce the measure in order to strengthen awareness of the area’s railway heritage, encourage public engagement and help preserve the municipality’s cultural identity.

The request has been approved in recognition of the key role played by the Sant Llorenç des Cardassar council in bringing the project to fruition. With European funding, the council led the investment needed to convert the Son Carrió depot—owned by SFM—into a high-quality museum space.

To qualify for the reduced rate, visitors must provide proof of residency in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar before the visit, either by presenting a valid ID card or an up-to-date certificate of registration.

Advance booking will also be required via the museum’s website (www.museuferrocarrilsfm.org) in order to facilitate visitor management, planning and scheduling.

The measure will apply within the museum’s regular opening days and hours, and will be subject to capacity limits.

The Mallorca Railway Museum opened its doors on 12 November and also stands as a model of social commitment and inclusion. It is managed by 3Salut Mental, a partnership bringing together the organisations Estel de Llevant, Fundació Es Garrover and Associació Gira-Sol.

The museum offers an immersive and innovative experience in which physical and virtual elements are combined through large-scale projections, holograms, surround sound, digital mapping and sensory effects—such as locomotive smoke—creating a unique experience in Europe. A modern, dynamic space that pays tribute to Mallorca’s railway past while looking firmly to its future.
