Pet access regulations
Law 7/2023, of 28 March, on the protection of animal rights and welfare.
General access
Small pets such as dogs, cats, ferrets and small non-farm birds are allowed. Cats, ferrets and small birds must travel inside a carrier.
Access with exotic animals (reptiles, spiders, insects, etc.) is prohibited.
The owner or person accompanying the animal is solely responsible, including to third parties, for any incident or damage caused by the animal's behaviour.
Specific rules for dogs
- All dogs must have an identification microchip.
- Potentially dangerous dogs are not allowed.
- Dogs may use the lift and stone stairs, but not the escalators.
- Female dogs may not travel during their heat cycle.
- A single ticket is required as valid transport for the animal, unless it is travelling inside a carrier.
The following are always permitted on SFM premises:
- Guide dogs accompanying blind or visually impaired persons.
- Dogs trained for personal assistance and accompanying a person with a disability who requires their help for personal development and warning in risky situations.
In addition, they are excluded from the single ticket fare.
Safety restrictions
Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca staff reserve the right to prohibit or limit the admission of animals at times of high passenger traffic.
If an animal behaves in a disruptive, aggressive or dangerous manner, staff may order its owner to leave the train or underground and the premises.
Location on the train
Passengers travelling on trains or underground with pets must use the last carriage of the train exclusively.
Tickets for pets
Persons accompanied by an animal that, due to its size, does not use a carrier, must pay for a ticket for the animal.
Recommendations
- Avoid peak hours to facilitate coexistence.
- Ensure that the pet is well received by other users.
