SFM completes refurbishment works at Marratxí train station
A new power substation has been built to reinforce the safety and reliability of the electrical supply, while parts of the station building and outdoor areas have also been refurbished
The General Manager of Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM), José Ramón Orta, and the Mayor of Marratxí, Jaume Llompart, visited Marratxí railway station today following the completion of refurbishment works carried out at the facility.
The main works, now completed with an investment of close to €315,000, focused on the construction of a new electrical power substation at Marratxí station.
This new infrastructure will allow the station to be supplied directly through SFM’s internal power network, eliminating dependence on external suppliers and minimising the risk of incidents. The aim is to reinforce the safety of the facility and guarantee a more stable and reliable service.
In addition, the project included several improvement works to the station building and surrounding outdoor areas, with the objective of modernising the facilities and making them more functional and accessible.
Among the works carried out were the replacement of windows, improvements to indoor and outdoor spaces, upgrades to the perimeter fencing, the installation of a new clock on platform 2, and waterproofing works on the ground floor. An old platform access point was also removed in order to optimise passenger circulation and improve user safety.
